So another Happy Women’s day…we have made some strides, with 35% reservation a likelihood, Nepal supporting women’s health, and Sri Lanka recognizing the plight of the abandoned Tiger women, and Bangladesh giving more rights to its women and taking sexual harassment and teasing and acid throwing a little more seriously….But..there is always a but…boring numbers that hide psychological and physical trauma that never goes away and leaves a behind a victim…not a person!
It was MP and Delhi in 2009 and continues to be Chattisgarh and Delhi in 2010…what is new…ummm the increase in incest rape…along wiht a 30% increase in rape…. and out of 21,397 rape incidents 2,470, or 11.5 percent were girls under 15 years of age while 2,912 or 15.6 percent were teenage girls belonging to the age group of 15-18 years.
oh well rape is not the only thing really, there is domestic violence and dowry and all the old stuff and then the new stuff….how many women are getting into live in relationships….how many women are chatting up men online….where are the state decrees to prevent misuse of women and their dignity..because that day will come…could we be just a little pro active for a change…our girls are seedha sada….but he loves me and he loves me not is no longer a true measure of commitment…it is all about finances and economics…live in also means an easier to dump…..and weaker emotional and kind of left out individual….
While, internet means easy stalking if things do not work out…with acid throwing on vulnerable girls still popular in rejected “hero complexed” pimply teens and middle aged dudes…the girls are going to need some support!
The question is who will raise their head from the sand of all the other clutter and start putting some of the caveats on paper?
